Week one
Keep the sod and soil damp. Two to three light waterings per day depending on temperature and wind. Avoid pooling.
Week two
Transition to one deep watering per day. The goal: moisture penetrates 4 inches without runoff.
Established
Deep watering 2–3 times per week is plenty for most California yards. Water before sunrise to reduce evaporation.
